Dorsey trade update

According to Pat Clifton (Warpaint Illustrated), a source close to the situation has indicated that a Glenn Dorsey trade to Atlanta could very well come to fruition this weekend and the Chiefs would receive the Falcons 1st round pick (#24 overall) along with their third round selection (#90 overall) in return.

The hardest part of this deal would be that the Chiefs are on the hook for the remainder of Dorsey’s guaranteed money, which comes out to about $18 million give or take. Somehow I doubt that Kansas City GM Scott Pioli will want to eat that kind of cash, even if he can get a nice deal from Atlanta as a result. Also, giving up a top five pick from last season for a late 1st and 3rd round pick this year doesn’t seem to add up, although teams are not relying on the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart nearly as much as they used to these days.

If Pioli is already pretty convinced Dorsey’s a poor fit to playing either the nose or end in a 3-4 alignment, then the question of value changes.

Warpaint is full of crap. They’re always posting “scoops” which turn out to be false.

Can Dorsey, the Chiefs have multiple needs and unfortunately Dorsey is not suited for the 3-4. Chiefs will be better off as maybe we can meet some of our needs at basically every position but secondary and qb. I say draft a Tackle at three to protect our Cassell investment, and try to snag a rushing DE. Rumor has it, Tank Tyler was projected as a possible NT for 3-4 when he was drafted, not perfect but when you have so many needs you have to make some players fit.
Chiefs can also the use the 2nd round hopefully to give Cassel another WR weapon. Hopefully we can snag some LB in the later rounds
