Chiefs scouting staff sent packing
Two days removed from the draft, the Chiefs have decided to move on without the majority of their scouting department, according to multiple sources close to the organization. Apparently, Kansas City’s GM Scott Pioli had a significant difference of opinion on scouting philosophy with the group that was let go and once the draft was complete, they were informed of their release.
Pioli and head coach Todd Haley are in their first season with the Chiefs and are replacing Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards respectively. Both Peterson and Edwards share a similar draft ideology and set their scouting department to reflect those views. Pioli and Haley come from a different mentality, so it’s not surprising that the moves were made to revamp the department once their task was complete.
