Cardinals ready to cut James loose
Citing an unnamed source, Steve Wyche (NFL.com) is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals will release RB Edgerrin James later this week, and could come as soon as tomorrow. The Cardinals spent two draft picks this year on running backs, including their first round choice (#31 overall) in Ohio State RB Chris “Beanie” Wells.
James is a 10 year veteran of the league and is not likely to find a starting position elsewhere this off-season given his age and durability concerns. Several teams may inquire though if he is willing to take a lesser role to help in a possible playoff run. It’s not known what kind of money James would accept to make that switch, but teams rumored to have an interest include Kansas City, New Orleans, and Seattle.
