Cinci going hard after Coles

One day after they were spurned by their former star receiver, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the Bengals are doing their best to put him out of sight and out of mind in a hurry.

According to the team’s official website, Cincinnati is expected to have a face to face meeting with free agent WR Laveranues Coles later today, and could reach an agreement quickly if they are aggressive with their offer.

Coles was recently released by the Jets, after spending his entire career playing in the Big Apple. His age has slowed him considerably, but given his reliable hands and crisp route running ability, the Bengals would be wise to sign him if at all possible.

Coles would form a solid duo in Cincinnati along with the enigmatic Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson, who is now facing the prospect of consistent double teams from opposing defenses with Houshmandzadeh gone to Seattle.
