Who’s the Boss? McNabb tells Eagles to improve or else

After fighting his way back from his week 12 benching against the Baltimore Ravens to lead his team to the NFC Championship, Eagles QB Donovan McNabb is doing his best to prove that he’s still the man in Philly.

According to Michael Smith (ESPN), McNabb is insisting that Philadelphia take significant strides to improve the club before any serious talks of a contract extension take place. McNabb wants the team to invest heavily in the offense, giving him more weapons and better blocking up front.

McNabb and his agents met with head coach Andy Reid and other front office personnel early last week to clear out all the negative vibes from his benching, and to discuss a possible extension with the team.

Apparently, the air was cleared with no issue, but any talk of an extension has been shelved for the time being, at least until free agency and possibly the draft have taken place. There were no indications of a specific time table for any future discussions, but if the Eagles are successful in revamping an aging offense, it’s expected that McNabb would approve a significant extension to his contract fairly quick.
