Minnesota tried like hell to pry QB Sage Rosenfels loose from Houston last off-season, but the Texans weren’t having any of it after the Vikings only offered a third round selection in last year’s draft.
Turns out that denial was a fairly big mistake, as Houston is now ready to send Rosenfels on his way, this time for a fourth round pick, temporarily solving at least one problem for the Vikes by giving them a decent backup in case QB Tavaris Jackson continues his erratic play this fall.
Rosenfels isn’t the savior that Vikings fans would prefer to see, but he should push Jackson much more than Gus Frerotte did last season, especially down the stretch where Frerotte was inconsistent or injured much of the time.
