Quick hits - Colts, Bucs, and Jets oh my…

January 17th, 2009

It’s Saturday morning, and while things seem to have died down a bit for the moment, I expect that we’ll get something big coming down the pike later today or tomorrow.

No playoff football going down means boredom for the fans, so keep yourself excited an energized with these links while I grab some more coffee and a bite to eat. I’ll be back in a flash to keep the content flowing…

  • The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Tampa Bay is entertaining former Bears DBs coach Steve Wilks today, and could make a move to hire him to fill the same position under new head coach Raheem Morris.
  • The Jets are not looking to bring former Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden in to interview at this point, as they would prefer to hire a first time head coach instead of a seasoned veteran, according to the NY Post.
  • The Indianapolis Star is reporting that the Colts newl head coach Jim Caldwell is set to hire former Buffalo Bills QB Frank Reich as the team’s quarterbacks coach. Reich of course is best remembered from the greatest playoff comeback in NFL history, leading the Bills back from a 35-3 deficit to defeat the Houston Oilers, 41-38.
  • The NFL’s head of officiating, Mike Pereira had a few choice words to say in regards to the delay of game non-call during the final moments of the Tennessee-Baltimore playoff game last week:

“When you bring it back in real time I think I timed it at about .65 seconds. The question is, how long is a little long? It is probably a little long.”
