"It is the buildup of lead from all sources over time that determines whether harmful health effects will occur", the DEP said. Many of our water systems go back to the Victorian era and even homes built in the 30's and 40's have pipes made with lead sodder, said director Jeff Tittel. While all the schools are being re-tested, students may be drinking bottled water for the next few weeks.
