Who Won Super Saturday? Louisiana, Kansas, & More Report Caucus And Primary Results

Ted Cruz, R-Texas waves to the crowd at the GOP caucus in Wichita, Kan., Saturday. But both had higher hopes for winner-take-all contests on March 15 in their home states.

Super Tuesday is the day when the largest number of USA states hold primary elections and caucuses.

The two Democratic presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, are also set to face off Saturday in Kansas, Louisiana, and Nebraska.

The goal is to knock Rubio out of the race, but the complex delegate dynamics mean that overall effect of Cruz's decision to fight in the state may be to either pave the way for Donald Trump to win outright, or to push the party into the brokered convention that Cruz says he hopes to avoid.

Rallying in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Cruz, a Texas senator, declared: "The scream you hear, the howl that comes from Washington D.C., is utter terror at what we the people are doing together".

Trump, 69, contained Cruz's advances by winning in Louisiana and Kentucky.

Cruz, a tea party favorite, attributed his strong showing to conservatives coalescing behind his candidacy, calling it a "manifestation of a real shift in momentum".

With the GOP race in chaos, establishment figures are frantically looking for any way to stop Trump, perhaps at a contested convention if none of the candidates can roll up the 1,237 delegates needed to snag the nomination.

This week both Mitt Romney and John McCain, the 2012 and 2008 Republican presidential nominees respectively, spoke forcefully against Trump being the nominee.

The retiree said he doesn't understand why the GOP establishment is reticent to support Trump but said possibly they're scared of Trump.

The audience in house was close to a 50/50 split and numerous attendees were incredibly passionate about who they supported. Marco Rubio, who has claimed only one win so far in the race and is now facing a must win contest in Florida on March 15. - Halie Saldana, 20, of Lewiston, Maine, on why she supported Cruz.

Neither went on to win the nomination.

Sanders won in Vermont, Oklahoma, Colorado and Minnesota.

"It's not enough to say, 'Vote for me because I am angrier and over the top and am going to do and say things no one is going to do, ' " he told conservatives at the conference outside Washington.

While a little of their opponents' negative characterizations shows up in the words a candidate's own partisans use to describe them, positive assessments dominate, as each of these three get highly favorable assessments from their own party's voters.

Though it is still not clear and we may have to wait for a few more hours, polls provide us some speculations about the outcome of the election.

Oldham, 46, said he is horrified by Trump's vulgar talk and vague campaign promises, and believes he's nothing more than "a marketing machine". She said she liked the businessman because "he's not bought and paid for".

Trump is 908 delegates short; 155 are available on Saturday.

Turnout high for Nebraska Democratic Caucus
It would be nice to end the weekend knowing our state's delegates are behind Sanders and Kasich, but I'm not sure that's likely. John McCain - are fearful a Trump victory would lead to a disastrous November election, with losses up and down the GOP ticket.

Trump, intent on denying Rubio a crucial Florida win, had the thousands at his Orlando rally swear to give him their ballots. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich for victory in the Republican primary contest. - Bernie Sanders supporter Brent Crampton, 31, who came to a caucus site near Omaha, Nebraska, at 8 a.m., after working as a DJ until 4 a.m. He said the Democratic race "was just too important to me to sleep in".

"I adore Trump. I think his heart is as big as his hands", she said.

Sanders, who still trails Clinton badly in the total delegate count, made no suggestion he would declare defeat. Trump will try to build on his lead over three rivals, while leading Democrat Hillary Clinton will try to do the same over Bernie Sanders.

Meanwhile the two candidates will meet in Flint, Michigan for a televised debate on CNN.

On the idea that he proposes radical change in America, Sanders said his plans are more common sense than radical, like repairing the country's infrastructure. He's hoping his emphasis on reducing income inequality plays well in a state hit hard over the years by shifting economic trends and globalization.

Ted Cruz Wins CPAC Straw Poll
In Louisiana's primary, 74-year-old Stan Register in Baton Rouge voted for Ted Cruz - "a real conservative". Bringing more on board will be critical for Trump if he makes it to the general election.
