Taylor Swift accused of endangering wildlife at music video shoot

A local conservation organization suggested Swift harmed the endangered Dotterels that lay eggs near where she filmed a music video.

But conservationists claim the crew ignored restrictions limiting them to two vehicles on the sand - tearing up the beach with up to a dozen vans and 4x4s. The authorities when informed about the incident, were really upset as these birds build nest in the sand and they are usually run over by vehicles and crushes by humans while just walking.

Cherokee Films, the local company behind the production, defended the singer and insisted it complied with the permit to use the beach and avoided the local dotterel habitat.

Taylor Swift, a woman who has already been accused of destroying the local coastline around her Rhode Island beachside mansion, is now allegedly threatening living things, too.

It was earlier reported that Swift would release Out of the woods as her next single and she would shoot its music video in New Zealand.

Waitakere Ranges local board member Neil Henderson said the news was "disturbing" as there were only about 10 dotterels at the beach at any one time.

Taylor Swift Accused of Trampling All Over Critically Endangered Birds Nests

"Cherokee Films has a long history of responsible film shoots across Auckland, including Bethells Beach, where we have filmed many times. But she's got another song ("Wildest Dreams") that says "say you'll remember me", maybe I'll do that instead". "The filming occurred outside the dotterel breeding area, it said".

The statement also explains that, in support of concerns, Cherokee Films will make a donation to the dotterel breeding program.

Coney, a veteran environmental activist in the area, said she would ask Auckland council to investigate the behaviour of those involved.

"And we don't know yet whether they followed the rules, which are that they shouldn't be going more than 10kmph and they should have a spotter in front of any vehicle that's moving on the beach".

A neighbour who didn't want to be named, said she didn't think Lorde's family were now at their holiday home.

Security guard the entrance to Paradise Homestead, about an hour from Queenstown, where Taylor Swift was filming this week.
