After their free agency spending spree got them nowhere last season, the Eagles have quietly gone about their business this year, trying to keep their own players in the fold, before turning their sights to improving from the outside.

One of those players is defensive end Trent Cole, and according to multiple sources, Philadelphia has put together a very nice extension for the Pro Bowl pass rusher, keeping him in an Eagles uniform for an extra four years at a cost of $53 million.

Cole, 29, has become one of the league’s most dominant sack artists over the past few seasons, racking up 44 tackles and 11 sacks last season. For his career, Cole has 421 total tackles, 68 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, and one interception.
