With seemingly every big name starter, aside from wide receiver Reggie Wayne, gone from the team this off-season, the Colts have had to start from scratch with their roster, signing players that fit better with new head coach Chuck Pagano’s 3-4 defensive scheme.
One potential option that is gaining steam is hybrid linebacker Manny Lawson, who would be a solid run stopper on the edge and provide some help in rushing the passer as well.
According to Phil Richards of the Indianapolis Star, the Colts have expressed interest in bringing Lawson in to potentially get a deal done. Richards cites the Packers, Browns, and Raiders as competition for Lawson’s services.
Lawson, 27, played last season in Cincinnati after spending his first five years with San Francisco. Lawson has totaled 292 tackles, 16 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions throughout his career.
