Colts short of depth heading into Eagles game

While the Eagles are getting a crop of notable players back from injury this weekend, including quarterback Michael Vick, wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and offensive tackle Jason Peters, their opponent is seriously limited in depth because of physical detriments. The Colts are surprisingly short on players and are expected to trot onto the Lincoln Financial Field grass on Sunday afternoon with as many as 14 roster members in danger of not suiting up. Of course, Indianapolis is all but guaranteed to put up a fight when future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning is leading the way as the quarterback for his team, but there’s no arguing that the Eagles have an advantage for Week 9 in terms of having a greater amount of healthy contributors.

The only players on the active roster that are likely to be held on the sidelines for the Eagles this weekend are injured cornerback Ellis Hobbs and backup lineman King Dunlap, who has been tending to knee pain for some time now, but the Colts’ injury list is literally piled with names. In fact, because there are so many Indy players that are dealing with some sort of issue, a chart has been included below to make it easier to understand just how damaged the depth is for the Eagles’ upcoming opponent. It should also be noted that the Colts are so limited at the tight end position, with top-tier starter Dallas Clark out for the season and his rookie backup also ailing, that Jacques McClendon has temporarily been moved from the offensive line to the TE spot:
