When Randy Moss left Minnesota for Oakland in 2005, it’s doubtful that he ever contemplated the notion that he might come full circle and finish what he started with the Vikings at the end of his career.
But if multiple sources close to the situation are to be trusted, that’s exactly how things will play out, as the Patriots (who acquired Moss from the Raiders in 2007) are on the verge of completing a deal that will send Moss back to Minnesota later on this morning.
Nothing has been finalized as of yet, but everything is pointing to the trade being consummated very soon, with the Vikings likely sending a third round pick back to the Patriots in return.
One of those sources even went so far as to say that he’d be “shocked” if this deal doesn’t go through, giving the strongest indication yet that the deal is in it’s final stages and the two sides are only waiting until the morning to announce it.
Moss will join an embattled Vikings squad that suffered defeat in their first two games before trouncing the Lions in week three at home. The opportunity to play with future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre certainly won’t be lost on him, and if he can provide a much needed spark offensively, all of Moss’ past sins that he committed in his first stint with Minnesota will be forgiven.
