Lost in the excitement of the Saints late game heroics last night was the devastating injury suffered by running back Reggie Bush in the second half. Bush looked at first glance to have been handed a season ending calamity, and quickly exited the field to have x-rays taken in the locker room.
But for the time being, the negativity that initially surrounded Bush’s prognosis has quietly turned towards a more positive outlook, as multiple sources are now reporting his injury to be a broken leg, and it’s possible that Bush will be able to return six weeks from now if all goes well.
Obviously, the team doctors will be looking at Bush intensely when the team gets home in a few hours, and the early diagnosis could very well end up being changed to a more prohibitive approach in the near future.
That said, fans of the Saints have to be pleased that Bush’s injury isn’t as serious as many feared it to be initially, and a return late in the season is better than no return at all.
We’ll keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
