Outlook “bleak” on Jackson trade to Vikings

A few hours ago, we posted an article outlining the Chargers preferred level of compensation and their reported refusal to budge from those demands playing a major role in the Vikings hesitation in finalizing a deal for wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

That analysis has been cemented even further in the past few minutes, as Yahoo! Sports columnist Jason Cole is reporting that San Diego has turned down an offer from Minnesota that would have netted them a second-round pick and a conditional pick in the 2011 draft in return for Jackson.

The conditional portion of the deal would have been dependent on the Vikings signing Jackson to a long term deal, and while it’s still theoretically possible that the Chargers will step back from their position shortly before the deadline of 4:00 pm EST approaches, Cole believes a trade between the two clubs is a long shot as of right now.

As always, we’ll keep you posted if and when any new information becomes available.
