In life and in the NFL, hindsight is always 20/20, and it’s a rare occasion where we’re able to look back on a decision without second guessing.
Just three weeks into the 2010 campaign, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is doing just that, as he’s indicated to sources close to him that he would not come back for his 20th season, if given the opportunity to decide again.
Prior to his arrival half way through Minnesota’s training camp, Favre had reportedly told multiple teammates that he was retiring for good. But after a visit from close friends Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell, and Steve Hutchinson at his home in Mississippi, Favre hopped on a plane bound for the Twin Cities and hasn’t looked back until now.
Favre’s unhappiness with his decision to return is understandable, given the Vikings poor start to the season, and the loss of Pro Bowl wide receiver Sidney Rice near the end of the off-season to hip surgery. Rice is set to come back in week seven, and will undoubtedly bring a smile to Favre’s face, thanks in large part to the bond the pair forged last year.
