Anderson safe as starter in Arizona for now

It hasn’t been pretty thus far for the Cardinals, but the two wins the team earned in week one and earlier today have given quarterback Derek Anderson a reprieve from being benched for the time being.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the thought of replacing Anderson in today’s game against the Raiders never crossed head coach Ken Whisenhunt’s mind, and as such it’s doubtful that the Cardinals will make a change headed into next week’s contest.

Sitting behind Anderson is rookie Max Hall, who played well through the pre-season and is expected to be the starter in Arizona sooner rather than later.

Starting Hall this season seems to be something Whisenhunt wants to avoid at this point, but if Anderson continues to play poorly in the coming weeks, a switch could end up happening fairly quick.
