New York Giants wide receiver, Steve Smith, has been struggling with injuries this offseason and during last Friday’s practice, Smith suffered another one, this time a strained groin.
NFL betting fans should consider that Smith achieved a franchise-record of 107 receptions during the 2009 season and became the Giants’ first Pro Bowl representative at wide out since 1968.
The 25-year-old receiver said on Thursday that he underwent an MRI that showed a minor groin strain and some hip issues, with which he has dealt since college.
Smith did not play in the preseason game last night against the Jets, who share the Meadowlands with the Giants and will co-host the Super Bowl in 2014, but he hopes to return to practice next week.
“I ran today on a hill pretty hard. I just don’t want to rush out there and do something else. We’ll take it day to day.”

Smith’s hip problems seem to be something new; however, Steve said he has played with it for years and insisted that it is “nothing serious.”
On the other hand, tight end Jake Ballard left practice that same day as Smith with an apparent hamstring injury and he is the third injured tight end this offseason along with Kevin Boss and Travis Beckum.
In addition, wide receiver Domenik Hixon could miss the entire 2010 season due to a knee injury that he suffered in minicamp training last June.
The Giants will play their first regular-season game at their new home on Sunday, September 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
