Upgrade at quarterback in the works for Cleveland?

Despite having a tremendous amount of cash already tied up in the quarterback position, the Browns are seemingly intent on adding yet another player at that spot into mix, and are discussing potential trades with other clubs as we speak.

According to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Browns are planning on sending quaterback Derek Anderson packing soon, hoping to trade him away for a meager return.

Given the lack of a salary cap this season, dumping a high salaried player isn’t as big a deal, and as such, Cleveland could even release the former Pro Bowler. With Anderson out of the way, the Browns would then have an opening at the position, and potentially an extra low round pick to work with as well.

At any rate, the Browns are likely to have a busy weekend in a few days with plenty of holes to fill, and a GM capable of swinging a deal to bring in more talent. As always we’ll be there to bring you the latest as it breaks.
