Tues @ 4:05 pm – Apparently the final decision on Cable’s future in Oakland will take place later this week, possibly as early as tomorrow, depending on what Davis wants to do.

11:15 am – According to NFL.com’s Steve Wyche, one potential candidate to replace Cable if he is fired would be Packers assistant head coach Winston Moss, who is highly regarded around the league and well thought of by Davis.

9:10 am – Not much to update here as of yet. The word on the street is that Cable is still a likely candidate to get axed, but it seems as though Davis is taking his time with the decision.

The Associated Press is reporting that Cable could meet with Davis today, but it’s still up in the air as to what the outcome will be. We’ll keep you posted if anything new comes up.

Mon @ 11:45 am – ESPN is reporting that former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach is the frontrunner to be the next head coach in Oakland. Leach was fired from his position at Tech for his role in the Adam James scandal late in December.

11:15 am – In life, we can all expect three things to remain the same: paying taxes, death (sooner or later), and Raiders owner Al Davis firing his head coach every year.

According to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland is expected to cut head coach Tom Cable loose, potentially as early as this afternoon. Multiple sources, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter have confirmed Cable’s likely departure.

Cable finished his first full season in charge of the Raiders one week ago with a 5-11 record, but has apparently worn out his welcome with Davis. Multiple players in Oakland have voiced their support for Cable, who seemingly brought a fresh approach to a team that has been in the NFL’s cellar for most of this decade, but Davis is known for doing things his own way, and this is no exception.

Nothing is for certain though as of yet, so we will keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
