Ravens sticking with Hauschka for now

The job of a kicker in the NFL is one that is fraught with all kinds of uncertainty from season to season, and even week to week, as teams are always looking to find the right guy that can hit consistently across the board.

Baltimore K Steven Hauschka found that out first hand this week, as the Ravens brought in free agent kickers Mike Nugent and Billy Cundiff to see if they might be a better fit going forward. Both Nugent and Cundiff saw significant experience early on in their careers with the Jets and Cowboys respectively, only to find themselves on the outside looking in as of late.

But after watching the two kickers work out on Tuesday, head coach Jim Harbaugh decided against a change at the position, and will instead stay the course with Hauschka for the time being, in spite of two critical missed kicks against the Vikings and the Bengals. That said, Hauschka will definitely have his work cut out for him throughout the remainder of the season, and can ill afford to miss any more field goal opportunities, lest he suffer the ultimate consequence of being let go in favor of someone else.
