Detroit’s star WR Calvin Johnson is not expected to be on the field for the Lions next week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Johnson sprained his knee during Detroit’s loss to the Steelers last week and with a BYE week fast approaching, it makes sense to rest him this week so as to keep him going all season long.

This certainly will cause a major dropoff for the Lion’s offensive output next week against Green Bay, as Johnson is Detroit’s best option in the passing game, but overall it’s the best course of action for both Johnson and Detroit going forward as they can ill afford to lose him for the remainder of the season.
