Training Camp Chatter – Ravens

Written by Chris Kolb

Topics: Baltimore Ravens

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com dropped by Baltimore’s training camp today and posted some of his thoughts after watching the Ravens practice.

Here’s a quick look at the major topics of discussion:

  • LB Terrell Suggs is still walking around in a cast with an ankle injury, but the Ravens coaching staff is confident he’ll be ready to go fairly soon. Given the amount of money they’ve invested in him this off-season, I’d say having him on the field ASAP is a pretty big priority for the club.
  • Both sides of the ball are looking good right now, but the most impressive sights have come from the trenches, as offensive and defensive line play has been nothing short of outstanding so far.
  • QB Joe Flacco has been throwing the ball with great accuracy, but the Ravens need a big play speedster on the outside to keep opposing defenses honest and away from WR Derrick Mason, who makes his living running shorter routes.
  • Longtime offensive guru Al Saunders is currently meeting with club officials to potentially work out a consulting job with Baltimore, but nothing has been finalized as of yet.
