D-Bowe riding the bench in KC

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star is reporting that WR Dwayne Bowe has been relegated to the bench by Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, in an attempt to get Bowe to respond better to the team’s new approach to conditioning in training camp.

Haley has instituted a much more intense practice schedule since his arrival in Kansas City, pushing the team to become a more focused and intelligent squad, after posting a 6-26 record over the past two seasons.

While it’s fairly obvious that Bowe will be on the field in week one for the Chiefs, given their lack of talent offensively, it’s not a good sign that he hasn’t put forward the effort needed to impress his new coach. We’ll keep an eye out to see if his approach to the new regime changes over the next day or two.
