The war of words has begun.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach came out swinging on Sunday, hammering Browns head coach Eric Mangini for starting rumors about WR Michael Crabtree and his “”diva-ish” behavior during his visits in Cleveland. Apparently, Leach feels that Mangini’s comments led to the short-lived slide that Crabtree went through on Saturday, finally coming to a rest in San Francisco.
“Michael Crabtree has been more successful as a receiver than that guy has a coach at this point,” Leach said. ” … Part of the reason is he’s (Crabtree) too shy to be like that.”
“My definition of a diva is someone who’s loud and self-absorbed. Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I’ve seen.”
At any rate, Crabtree now has a home with the 49ers and should help them in their quest to regain some of their former glory, so depending on how well each team plays this fall, he could have the last laugh when things are all said and done.
