Warner staying put in Arizona

Kurt Warner kept insisting it was just a matter of time. Turns out, it was a bit more than that. $23 million more.

According to Adam Schefter, Warner has agreed to a two year contract with the Cardinals that will pay him $23 million, $19 million of which is guaranteed.

The deal was a compromise at its core, with both sides taking their offers and meeting in the middle. Instead of the $14 million a season that Warner wanted, he’ll make $11.5 million per year, which is almost $2 million more than what the Cardinals were initially offering.

This keeps Arizona’s standout offense from a year ago intact, and likely spells the end of the Anquan Boldin trade discussion, as the Cardinals are not likely to move him with the opportunity to replicate what they accomplished last season staring at them in the face.
