DE Chris Canty has spent his entire career in Dallas, trying to terrorize the New York Giants offense into submission. Now he’s got a chance to reprise his role, after signing a six year, $42 million deal with New York to be their starting defensive tackle.
Canty agreed to the Giants offer earlier this evening, spurning a late push by the Green Bay Packers in favor of an opportunity to play in the bright lights of New York. Seattle was reportedly in the mix for his services as well, but once they signed DT Colin Cole away from the Packers, Canty made his move.
Canty will play a major role in a revamped Giants defensive line, known around the league for it’s tenacity and ability to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. New York has already added two other key components to their defense in LB Michael Boley and DT Rocky Bernard.
