Waters upset by arrogance in new Chiefs regime

Apparently, all is not well among the Arrowhead faithful, as Chiefs Pro-Bowl offensive guard Brian Waters is reportedly very upset after he was given the cold shoulder by GM Scott Pioli earlier this week.

Waters is unhappy with the way things are being handled under Pioli and new head coach Todd Haley, and requested that the team trade him or release him outright this off-season.

According to the report, Pioli refused to even meet with Waters to discuss the issue, and told him that his demand would not be accommodated by the team. Waters then turned to Haley, who maintained the company line and refused to honor Water’s request for a trade.

Given Waters status as one of the league’s top offensive lineman, it’s not hard to understand why the Chiefs would be reluctant to get rid of him this year. That being said, it’s becoming more and more apparent that Pioli et al have taken a page directly from the Bill Belichick school of relationship building, and could really care less about appeasing all of their players.

We’ll keep an eye on this as it develops…
