Haynesworth now a $100 million man

Cap space? Who cares?

In the span of about nine hours, the Redskins have spent almost $150 million on two players: CB DeAngelo Hall and DT Albert Haynesworth.

Haynesworth agreed to a seven year deal, worth an estimated $100 million early this morning, according to John Clayton (ESPN). The contract could go north of $115 million if certain performance incentives are reached.

Prior to the free agency period starting, Washington was one the teams that had the least amount of salary cap space, but as usual, owner Dan Snyder found a way to finagle his books into allowing him to spend a enormous amount of cash on free agent stars.

Up to now, very few of the deals he has made in the past have come to fruition, so we’ll definitely be taking a cautious approach here, but on paper, it looks to be a win-win situation for a team that is on the cusp of taking the next step towards a deep run into the playoffs.
