Lions jump into the fray to go after Washington

The wide receiver market this off-season is pretty weak, which explains the reasoning behind a third wheel option like Nate Washington (Steelers) getting so much love.

Several teams have expressed an interest in Washington, but the most surprising of the group has to be the Lions, who traded away their second best player in WR Roy Williams last fall to the Cowboys. But according to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, that’s exactly the case, so count us among the dazed and confused when it comes to this bit of news.

Apparently, the new management in Motown is of the opinion that it would be better to spend their cash in free agency than to invest it into a unproven commodity at the position via the draft; something Matt Millen never seemed to grasp.

Washington will likely have better destinations lined up by tomorrow morning, so the Lions are going to have to really up the ante by throwing out a ridiculous offer on the table to lure him up north for a day to visit Detroit.
