The performance gains are two times faster so you'll have plenty of processing power. And while the watches might be bigger, they're backwards compatible with existing bands.
Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer, speaks about the Apple Watch Series 4 at the Steve Jobs Theater on September 12, 2018, in Cupertino, California.
The display on the Series 4 is 30 percent larger than last year's model and comes in new 40mm and 44mm casing options, that are claimed to fit in a smaller footprint than last year's variants.
The Jim bloke noted the Apple Watch Series 4 is "an intelligent guardian for your health" which seems pretty apt to be fair. (I was a little stressed, so the results probably wouldn't have been that accurate anyway.) The electrical heart sensor is the Series 4's most meaningful new feature, because it could actually save lives. The first is a notification when your heart rate is too low.
The charging set up is the same as before: you've got the wireless, but magnetically-connected, charger that clips onto the back of the Watch 4 - this is a pretty strong link despite using magnets, so you'll rarely knock the watch off it during the night.
According to Apple, this is the first ECG to be offered over the counter to consumers. Just put your finger on the digital crown and your ECG will be recorded.
Apple says that all recordings, their associated classifications and any noted symptoms are stored in the mobile Health app in a PDF that can be shared with doctors.
Built-in sensors that let you take an electrocardiogram, or ECG. It now comes with haptic feedback. This will allow for a better cell reception as radio waves can easily pass through it.
Traditionally, Apple has kept quiet on the specific sales figures for the Apple Watch since it first launched more than three years ago. With the Global Positioning System activated you can get six hours of running or wandering around. Apple Watch now features an edge-to-edge display and a bigger screen compared to WatchSeries 3. Each one can be completely customized so you can focus on productivity, friends or health. The modular face can now surface more detailed information from stocks and healths apps. You can glance at your fitness progress, calendar or flight plans. A new watch face can hold up to eight complications, the Apple Watch version of apps, at once.
The new watch has new features, like the ability to measure your heart rate with an electrocardiogram, and a hardware redesign that gives it a larger display. The dynamic watch faces interact with the display and include elements such as water, fire and vapor. With a revamped accelerometer and gyroscope, Series 4 is "ideally suited" to identify both motions, Williams said. It contains a dual-core 64-bit processor.
If the watch thinks you've fallen, it'll send an alert to ask if you need help.
To be extra clear, the Apple Watch Series 4 is created to work with any existing wristbands. In 16 of those regions, 34 carriers will have the cellular version from $499. It'll start at $399, and you can order from this Friday, with shipping starting on 21st September.
