Packers stun Bears thanks to unforgettable Rodgers performance

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left his team's National Football League opener against the Chicago Bears with an apparent leg injury.

The trio of Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Geronimo Allison combined for more than 270 receiving yards as the Bears struggled to contain the passing game in the second half.

Rodgers, 34, finished the game 20 of 30 for 286 yards (273 in the second half) and three touchdown passes, all in the fourth quarter.

B | Jordan Howard (15 carries, 82 yards) almost finished off the Packers late in the fourth quarter, breaking off 16- and 11-yard runs.

"Like I've seen him do it from afar, you know what I mean?"

With the heart-breaking defeat, the Bears have now lost 15 of their last 17 games to the Packers dating back to 2010 and have dropped 10 straight contests to NFC North opponents. Then, we settled down and we just focused in on one play at a time, one tackle at a time, one breakup at a time.

"They were trying to get Mack on the field obviously as many plays as possible, which we figured".

The Bears came back down to Earth a bit in the second half, but they still gave fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic about their success in 2018.

After Rodgers was flagged for intentional grounding with 1:52 left in the third quarter, the Bears had a 98.2 percent chance to win the game, according to win probability.

After scoring a touchdown the first time they touched the ball, the Bears offense failed to get into the end zone again the rest of the night. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy admitted he walked out of the tunnel after halftime believing it would be Kizer, not Rodgers, who would be quarterbacking his team in a second half. After Mack's disruptive performance in the first half, the Bears have to be happy with their decision to spend so much on him.

The Packers had 24 yards of total offense, but minus-3 through the air, after the first quarter. Remember when the narrative on Rodgers was that he could put up fantastic stats and win games, but he couldn't lead comebacks?

The Bears are only weeks into installing Matt Nagy's offense and early in the game, it appeared as if they were prepared to execute at a high level. No other player on the Packers roster produced more than 25 receiving yards.
