Man Utd to hijack Arsenal’s move for enforcer

Chelsea attacker Willian has confirmed Jose Mourinho has been in touch with him and his agent amid reports of a potential move to Manchester United this summer, according to the Mirror.

It is understood that officials from United and Bayern held discussions about the transfer of the 29-year-old prior to last night's friendly between the two teams in Bavaria, which the hosts won 1-0.

The other clubs that compete with us are really strong and already have fantastic teams and squads, like Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, or they are investing massively like, for example, Liverpool, that is buying everything and everybody.

The Mirror reported over the weekend that United are ready to approach Chelsea to offer them a swap deal involving Martial and Willian as Mourinho is prepared to trade the unsettled French global to sign one of his long-term targets. United also considered Toby Alderweireld and Yerry Mina.

Now Willian has told ESPN that while he is happy to stay at Chelsea, he has an ambition to work with Mourinho once again.

"And if we don't make our team better it will be a hard season for us".

Bayern Munich have put a €50m (£44.5m) price tag on Boateng, who is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain.

Martial has made it clear to Mourinho and United's board that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Mourinho has seemed unhappy in pre-season and expressed his frustration at the club's lack of new signings.

"In the World Cup and recent seasons, I think he's been atrocious at times with his defending". I hope he'll stay with us because he's an important player.
