Alex Jones's Infowars podcasts pulled from iTunes and Spotify

The decision to remove the content was confirmed by Apple who issed a statement saying the removal was part of its crackdown on the use of hate speech, which violates its content guidelines.

On Monday, Facebook also removed four pages belonging to Alex Jones for "repeatedly posting content over the past several days" that breaks its community standards.

Also on Monday, Spotify said it had taken down hundreds of episodes of Jones' show - representing the entire catalog - because they ran afoul of the streaming company's rules regarding hate speech.

Facebook on Monday said that it had chose to take down Infowars and its founder Jones's pages because they violated company policies.

Jones reacted to his banning from YouTube on his website's livestream. Last month, Facebook suspended Jones for 30 days.

Welcome to Alex Jones' awful, horrible, no good, chemtrail-filled day.

Twitter would not comment on Jones. Removing some of his videos here, taking down his podcasts there.

Among the theories Jones has promoted is that the September 11 attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the government.

He has also claimed that many of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre were actors.

Embattled conspiracy theory broadcaster Alex Jones was banned by YouTube on Monday.

He further said the companies "have all now ascribed themselves the power to remove people & outlets from their platforms based on their political opinions" and warned that "this power will be abused time and time again to meddle in elections".

BuzzFeed earlier reported that Apple had removed the library for five of Jones's six Infowars podcasts, including the shows "War Room" and the daily "The Alex Jones Show". Entering the web addresses for specific shows brought up a notice that the content is not available.

What has become increasingly clear, however, is that digital-and-social-media platforms have become reluctant to host Jones' Internet snake-oil peddling as he encourages harassment campaigns against transgender people and shooting victims.

It's unclear exactly how many episodes were ditched, although the vast majority of content created by Jones remains available to Spotify users. It's unclear how the latest bans have affected his reach. "If you're Facebook, you want to create a policy that can scale".

Hankes added that he is "not surprised" that Twitter continues to allow Jones on its platform. Jones has counter-sued, demanding in turn that they pay his court costs. Several families affected by the shooting, and an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who responded to the attack, have sued Jones for defamation.

Congressional Republicans previously have raised fears about conservatives being banned from social media platforms. Indeed, his supporters are out in full force on Twitter today, decrying what they see as a full-throated attack against free speech.

"[Facebook, Apple and YouTube] are private companies that shouldn't knowingly spread lies and hate".
