Vidal agrees to switch from Bayern to Barcelona

Chile midfielder Vidal has agreed to join Barca on a three-year deal, with just a medical remaining to conclude a transfer understood to be worth in the region of €20million.

Barcelona-bound: Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has agreed to move to Barcelona from Bayern Munich.

His arrival will make up for the surprise departure of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, who Barcelona loaned to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.

Arturo Vidal bade a warm farewell to Bayern Munich as he relishes a new challenge at Barcelona.

Vidal, 31, was whisked away from Bayern's pre-season training base on Friday morning with the club's director of sport Hasan Salihamidzic to finalise the details.

Barca has already signed Arthur, Malcom and Clement Lenglet this close-season, while Andres Iniesta, Paulinho, Lucas Digne and Gerard Deulofeu are among those who have left.

There has been a considerable amount of speculation about Vidal's future this summer, with Inter Milan having been heavily linked with a move, but he has chose to move to Barcelona.

"Thanks to FC Bayern and all fans", Vidal said in a brief statement on the Bundesliga champions' official website.

With Inter appearing to close in on the Chilean global, Barcelona swooped in and snatched Vidal out from under the Italian club's nose, reportedly completing the deal for $35 million.

"He always turned up in important games and we could always rely on him", said Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
