James fulfills promise with opening of school in Akron

Successful graduation from the school will also net each student paid tuition at the University of Akron.

LeBron James will undoubtedly go down as one of the best athletes of all time.

LeBron James may not live in OH anymore, but he's continuing to make a difference in the state where he was born.

- I PROMISE School (@IPROMISESchool) July 30, 2018Our #IPROMISE School Staff are gathering all around the school to greet @KingJames kids as they arrive for the 1️⃣st day at 9am!

During his CNN interview, James said "I can't sit back and say nothing" in the face of the president's scapegoating. In a video post through his own company, Uninterrupted, via Twitter, James stated that the choice was something he long dreamed of and came to fruition at an ideal time of his career.

James, a native of Akron who recently left the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, teamed up with the school system through the LeBron James Family Foundation. "I walked the same streets". "And for me to be in a position where I have the resources, I have the finance, I have the people, I have the structure, and I have the city around me; why not?"

"For kids, in general, all they want to know is that someone cares", James explained. She says they're offering a STEM-infused curriculum and wraparound services for students and their families - including an extra hour after school for clubs and other activities, known as the "Illumination Period". "No kid at eight, nine should have that stress.so I know exactly what a lot of these kids are going through".

While James is sure to boost the Lakers' chances of contending in the Western Conference, he'll have a tough time continuing his personal stretch of Finals appearances to nine. I know the trials and tribulations they go through. The public school, in which James is a stakeholder through the Lebron James Family Foundation, serves 240 third and fourth-grade students, and will expand to grades one through eight by 2022.

James' comments were an apparent reference to Trump's continued crusade against NFL players who protest during the national anthem.
