Jose Mourinho slams Antonio Valencia after Liverpool defeat

The World Cup has hampered United's preparations and Mourinho has now lost the key midfielder who was a standout performer last season.

Ahead of Saturday's International Champions Cup game in the United States between Manchester United and Liverpool, United manager Jose Mourinho cheekily warned that it was: "Liverpool's first team against Manchester United's kids".

You can certainly understand the confusion surrounding Liverpool's penalty taker during pre-season.

In fact, we're struggling to recall a time when Jose Mourinho was ever a happy man.

Manchester United and AC Milan fought in an intense penalty shootout to in the pre-season match on Thursday morning, with the Red Devils eventually emerging victorious. I think today it was a game where it was quite easy to come in for pretty much all of them because we played over 90 minutes of really good football on a very hard pitch for both teams.

"He came back a few days ago and he was really excited".

Liverpool started with Salah and Mane in the side, but it was the changed second half side that inflicted the most damage on United in the stadium they call the "big house". It helps them to understand the game. I think my score points speak for themselves.

"It was awesome to play with this great team, you can see this team has wonderful players, I feel good and I'm very happy. If it's not, we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have". Timothy Fosu-Mensah also suggested he could cover for the injured Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot at right-back.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola said he did not know about the condition of Mahrez, who completed a five-year, £60million deal from Leicester City earlier this month.

"The majority of the clubs, we cannot give the people the real quality football, which is I think what can attract even more passion in this country", Mourinho said.
