Kelsey Grammer plots a Frasier reboot

So it's well and truly in the very early stages, but it'll be interesting to see if the pitch gauges any interest.

If the reboot does go ahead, it seems Kelsey has had a change of heart as he previously insisted he'd like to keep both "Frasier" and "Cheers" in the past.

Kelsey Grammer could be set to reprise his most famous role, as psychiatrist and radio personality Dr. Frasier Crane. It generated some enormous ratings for nearly the entirety of its run and with Will & Grace drawing big ratings and Roseanne briefly being a big hit on ABC before its cancellation, it's no surprise that the studio would want to bring the show back. Frasier's finale, which saw Frasier leave Seattle for Chicago with his girlfriend Charlotte (Laura Linney), was watched by 33 million viewers.

According to Deadline, Grammer has been fielding interest and meeting with writers to discuss new story lines and ideas to help push the narrative forward.

CBS has declined to comment on the rumours. The show was produced by Grammer's Grammnet Prods. and Paramount Network Television, CBS TV Studios' predecessor. The original Frasier ran for 11 seasons, from 1993 to 2004, winning 37 Primetime Emmys, a record surpassed by Game of Thrones in 2016.

If renewed, the new show would join the growing list of TV sitcom reboots, including "Will & Grace", "Murphy Brown" and the recently canceled, "Roseanne". A Mad About You revival is also in the works at Sony.
