MacBook Pro brings True Tone support to LG UltraFine, Apple Thunderbolt displays

That's because a tiny particle of dust can block keys, and fixing the problem can be quite a chore.

Regardless, it would appear that the new membranes will make things much more reliable moving forward - something that will need to be confirmed in the coming weeks and months. Surprisingly, the third compatible monitor is Apple's own Thunderbolt Display, which has been discontinued for several years now.

Apple's new MacBook Pro is the first Mac to utilize the company's True Tone display technology, which uses multi-channel sensors to dynamically adjust the colors on your device's display based on the light in the surrounding environment.

Australian pricing for the mid-2018 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,699, with the 15-inch MacBook Pro from $3,499.

There is debate about whether Apple is being completely open about the new design of the keyboard.

As mentioned, Apple has officially just said that the MacBook Pro keyboard is quieter now, but iFixit believes that's a cover-up.

A quiet keyboard is a neat perk, but if dust can still hinder regular operation, it's still a sucky keyboard. Apple confirmed the new keyboard isn't created to fix the dust issue, so things are still up in the air for now. While there are a few stores that still don't have stock of the new machines, they are generally well available in the United States.

While Apple has not shouted about the dust-resistance of the updated keyboard, the silicone membrane uncovered by iFixit looks remarkably similar to a patent of Apple's for a method to "prevent and/or alleviate contaminant ingress". The company has stated that the new addition to the butterfly mechanism is "obviously an ingress-proofing measure to cover up the mechanism from the daily onslaught of microscopic dust" and not, in fact, there to dampen the noise level.
