Napoli President Discusses Status of Jorginho, Maurizio Sarri Deals with Chelsea

A report from The Sun also highlights that having Sarri in place for Monday means Chelsea can avoid any awkward encounters between Conte and players arriving for pre-season training. This remains a problem for all four parties involved. Why?

Chelsea fans can now finally look forward to the new season with their managerial situation close to being resolved.

Since Chelsea failed to meet Sarri's release clause by the deadline, De Laurentiis is now holding out for a reported €8m (£7m) in compensation.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims that Chelsea is leading the race to sign Jorginho, despite accepting an offer from Manchester City.

"I would hope that, should Sarri move to London, they will let him do his job, which means planning and organisation leading to constant improvement in the players".

Antonio Conte's two-year stint as Chelsea manager came to an end on Thursday, per Matt Law of The Telegraph, paving the way for former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri to take over ahead of the 2018-19 season, which kicks off for Chelsea on August 11 against Huddersfield.

"For that, I'll have to apologise to Manchester City".

De Laurentiis, though, says that where Jorginho ends up playing next season is a separate matter to Sarri as he waits for the 26-year-old to make a decision on his future.

Chelsea are preparing for their first pre-season fixture against Perth Glory on July 23 before they venture off for the International Champions Cup where they do battle with Arsenal, Inter Milan and Sevilla.

It proved a fractious campaign for the west-London club, with Conte outspoken about the congested Christmas fixture list and at times visibly agitated in news conferences.

That culminated in a disappointing fifth-place league finish and an FA Cup win.

"My lawyers are in talks with his (Sarri) lawyers to finalise everything".
