Belgium soccer star Batshuayi hits himself in the face while celebrating

Instead, the ball cannoned off the near post and directly into the striker's face, much to the embarrassment to The Red Devils' number 21.

During the World Cup match between England and Belgium on Thursday, a Belgian player struck himself in the face with a ball from his own kick.

Chelsea striker Batshuayi was ridiculed for some disgusting misses in Belgium's Group G game against Tunisia last Saturday and he didn't do much to suggest he deserves to be a first choice starter as he started against England in Kaliningrad.

The striker reacted hilariously to the incident and saw the amusing side to his gaffe.

He tweeted shortly after the game: "Ahahha I knew I would be f*cked the minute I come to my mentions why am I so stupid bro shit hurts".

The Belgium forward even claimed to have invented a new goal celebration, moving on from popular dances derived from the Fortnite video game.

Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi is, like most modern footballers, well-versed with social media.

Batshuayi's two tweets had more than 100,000 likes within 30 minutes of being posted.
