Pep Guardiola has finally responded to Yaya Toure's claims that he's racist

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied Yaya Toure's claim that he didn't pick the Ivorian at Barcelona due to the colour of his skin.

Guardiola says Toure "knows that I'm not racist" and did not raise the issue during their two years together at City.

In his career with the club, he won the Premier League three times, the League Cup twice and the FA Cup too.

Numerous players have come out in support of Guardiola since Toure's comments and now the manager himself has finally responded.

When the subject was brought up, Guardiola was reserved in his assessment, telling This Is Premier League: "I would say we made the best year in the Premier League ever".

In the interview with France Football, he said Guardiola "has often had problems with Africans wherever he has been" and suggested the City boss is "jealous" of him.

'But the day he will line up a team in which we find five Africans, not naturalised, I promise I will send him a cake'.

Guardiola refuted the allegations and also highlighted the timing of Toure's interview. "He never told me face to face", he added.

Toure made 17 appearances for City in all competitions last season before being released, while Guardiola was handed a new contract with the club until 2021.

"At a time when English clubs are spending huge sums of money on players, I officially declare that Yaya is ready to move to any top-six English club as a free agent with a salary of £1 per week", he said.

"President? No, I am a coach and I am good at what I do, you can't be everything".

"I even asked coaches for my stats".
