Battlefield 5 Battle Royale Mode: DICE Discusses How It Happened

As you might've expected, Battlefield V received an explosive new trailer during EA's E3 2018 press conference. The new Battlefield V trailer shows off a glimpse of their options during the intense multiplayer experience.

"I would be lying [if I said] there weren't people in the studio that would play [battle royale games] a lot", Gustavsson said with a laugh. The most important of it being, their take on the battle royale genre.

It will include everything that's become iconic of the Battlefield games in recent years, including destruction, teamplay, and vehicles.

Gustavsson added that there was an "extremely big push" from inside DICE for Battlefield to add battle royale. Oversaturation of the market isn't good for anyone, and it looks like that's where we might be headed, going forward. Back in April we reported that both the latest Call of Duty and Battlefield games may feature a battle royale mode.

Battlefield V was announced and received a chaotic in-engine trailer last month, and today at the EA Play event, DICE unveiled a full multiplayer gameplay trailer.

Battlefield V is due out October 19 for PC and consoles, and EA has already promised to drop the Premium Pass and map packs for this entry in the long-running series.

In addition, Battlefield V players will now be able to "dive and smash through windows to surprise your enemies", move turrets around the map, drive tanks straight through buildings, and customize characters more.
