Officials have confirmed that NY fashion designer Kate Spade was found hanged in her apartment with a note at the scene on Tuesday morning, June 5.
According to law enforcement officials, housekeeping staff found her dead in her apartment around 10:20 a.m.in what seems to be a suicide by hanging.
A note was found on a bed near Spade's body that was addressed to her 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, TMZ reported. The officials were not authorized to divulge details of an ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
But unlike her fellow designer, Scott did not leave a suicide note. She met her husband while in college at Arizona State University, and as a couple they launched Kate Spade New York in 1993. In 2007, Spade sold the remaining portion to Neiman Marcus Group in order to spend time with her daughter, Frances. The New York Police Department confirmed her death, under her birth name of Katherine Noel Brosnahan. A few years after joining the company, she moved in with her future husband, Andy Spade.
