Off-tone Melania Trump tweet sparks serious concern for her welfare

Now, after almost three weeks out of the public eye, people are wondering (and in some cases, worrying, ) about where she is.

Melania Trump's last public appearance was on 10 May, when she accompanied the president to Andrews Air Force base in Maryland to welcome home three American hostages from North Korea.

"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing", read the first lady's tweet. "Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"

Four days after that appearance, the White House announced that the 48-year-old first lady had successfully undergone an "embolisation" procedure to treat a benign kidney condition, and that there were no complications. A few days later, reports stated that the first lady had returned to the White House following the operation. On Tuesday, yet another rumor on Melania Trump's supposed disappearance had popped up, as an unnamed senior White House official told Politico that the president's people "are hiding something" regarding the first lady's whereabouts.

Melania's Twitter feed is usually full of warm-hearted, celebratory messages to members of the U.S. armed forces, women, United States citizens and the charities she supports.

The off-tone tweet caused some Twitter users to worry about the first lady's welfare and demand answers to why she hasn't been seen in weeks. She was notably absent from the Memorial Day wreath-laying at Arlington Cemetery earlier this week.

Nutrition experts say a realistic weight-loss plan would begin with cutting 500 calories from Trump's diet every day - which, if sustained, could help Trump shed one pound per week. "Just looking at us, right there", the president said at the time. First ladies are under no obligation to make their medical histories public. Wearing a sparkling Chanel Haute Couture gown, Trump was every inch appearing as a comfortable and capable first lady, nearly 16 months into her tenure.

Still, suspicion was stirred on social media.

Former President Barack Obama played basketball until his knees began troubling him, switching later to cardio work on machines in the White House residence.

Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said the first lady has been meeting with her staff on the "Be Best" initiative and working on upcoming projects like the annual White House picnic for members of Congress in June and Fourth of July festivities.
