The leaders of North and South Korea met for two hours on Saturday to discuss the cancelled summit with Donald Trump, less than a day after the U.S. president signalled that the meeting may be back on, citing "very productive" talks between the two countries.
The recent development comes barely hours after Trump, in a Twitter post, wrote that the summit could still happen on June 12 as previously scheduled.
The South Korean President met Kim on the North side of the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two Koreas late Saturday.
South Korea's presidential office said Moon will personally announce the outcome of Saturday's summit with Kim on Sunday.
Moon said he held Saturday's impromptu meeting at Kim's request.

According to pictures and footage released by Cheong Wa Dae, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hugged President Moon while escorting him after the summit.
But North Korea responded Friday by saying it was willing to talk to the United States "at any time" - a reaction Trump welcomed as "warm and productive". He said meetings were ongoing and that the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula "would be a great thing for North Korea".
Pelosi said the meeting "takes preparation, this takes knowledge, this takes judgment, and clearly it takes preparation, which the president didn't make".
Kim and Moon ended the meeting in an embrace.
Moon and Kim met just north of the heavily militarised border in the afternoon to exchange views to pave way for a summit between the North and the United States, South Korea's presidential office said.
US State Department spokeswoman Katina Adams declined to give details of any diplomatic contacts but said: "As the president said in his letter to Chairman Kim, dialogue between the two is the only dialogue that matters".
"He is not being criticized as much by his supporters, even though he was disgraced by Trump's behavior" canceling the summit without alerting Moon, Kim Joon-Hyung added.
The White House was unhappy about what it considered to be a "trail of broken promises" by North Korea - including failure to show up for summit preparatory talks and complaints about the latest US-South Korean joint military exercise.
Trump earlier said the countries were now in talks.
