WhatsApp revamps Groups with new features, more admin controls

In terms of the latter of these, descriptions are also new with those permitted to post a description now able to add "a short blurb" to a group (shown above). The new feature gives the admin, the power to restrict who can change the group's subject, icon, and description. This will certainly be welcomed by users, as now Administrators have no control of these aspects in group, wherein any member can change group names and display pictures.

Now WhatsApp users can find anyone in a group by searching for participants on the group info page. Moreover, admins can remove admin permission from others (without removing them from the group) and group creators are now immune to being ejected. Lastly, WhatsApp says that users can not repeatedly rejoin groups that they have previously left.

WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum recently left the company, and the social messaging platform was in the middle of a hassle as its parent company, Facebook, was in the news for all the wrong reasons. This will help admins in particular since they wouldn't have to explain everytime the goal of the group.

Admin controls: WhatsApp has been rumoured to be working on admin controls for improving Groups experience for a long time. Anyone can change the group description. On Tuesday, WhatsApp announced several new features that are coming to WhatsApp groups, something that has became more and more relevant in India, socially and politically.

This will be included with a brand new @ button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, making Catch Up easily accessible and very useful to get a glimpse of activity while you're away from the discussion. But, it's now available to all the users on Android as well as iPhone. Tap on it to see the messages you've missed.

WhatsApp has also introduced new protection for users.
