Modi also pointed to India's standing in the global economic order and said that from the time it was counted among "fragile five" when "Sonia Gandhi remote-controlled the government" it is now being regarded as the world's new "hope", with projected GDP growth of 7.2 per cent. "Fuel prices have been at an all-time high, but nothing is being done by the government on this". And as for the current prime minister, Gandhi's political forecast was grim.

"I'm confident that the people of Karnataka would see through the lies of the BJP and will re-elect Congress for inclusive governance", the Congress leader added. "Where did the money for the project go?", the Prime Minister asked.

As the Karnataka poll date inches closer, an opinion poll conducted by ABP has projected ruling Congress to emerge as the single largest party in a hung Assembly.

Today, Sonia Gandhi, acknowledging the Prime Minister's oratory skills, asked if his speeches have the potential to end hunger in the country.

Shah was immediately corrected by Yeddyurappa and BJP MP Pralhad Joshi who whispered into Shah's ear: "Siddaramaiah government", following which the BJP chief said: "arre re.Siddaramaiah government is number one in corruption".

The Prime Minister during a public rally on May 3, stated that nothing was possible without bribery in the state. He also blamed Modi for declining to solve the problem as suggested by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. While praising the state she said that standing by each other and working together is the essence of Karnataka & of India. She also took the base of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme and said this scheme was objected by the BJP & by Modi Ji. The party said pregnant women, differently abled people, senior citizens and widows would be given pension by the state government.

Modi said he had on Monday watched an interview of a Congress leader who said that the son (Congress President Rahul Gandhi) "will not be able to do anything". Further, the BJP will create a ₹2,500 crore fund named after Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda, which will be used to address many welfare-related issues.

Gandhi never campaigned in an election after she was suddenly taken ill during a road show in Varanasi ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. The election for one constituency has been postponed following the death of B.N. Vijay Kumar, Jayanagar BJP candidate.

The election is on Saturday and the votes will be counted on May 15 with the result declared that day.
