Ranbir Kapoor on 'Shamshera':

Ranbir Kapoor, who has floored his fans with his transformation for Rajkumar Hirani's biopic "Sanju" based on actor Sanjay Dutt's life is gearing up for another major makeover in Shamshera. Following the lead of Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer "Sonchiriya", Yash Raj Films have announced their own Daku thriller titled "Shamshera" starring Ranbir Kapoor as a scary dacoit. "Shamshera' allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it's a very exciting project for me". In one hand he is seen holding an axe while in the other hand, Ranbir is seen holding bow and arrows along with an army of his. This collaboration between the actor and the production company will be a scene repeated after 9 long years. Ranbir, who has until now showcased his lover boy image in most of his films in a career spanning over ten years, will essay the role of a dacoit in Shamshera. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film is being directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath and Brothers fame.

Ranbir Kapoor is all decked up to release his upcoming movie Sanju. The caption read, "करम से डकैत, धरम से आज़ाद Presenting #RanbirKapoor in a never seen before avatar in YRF's next action adventure #SHAMSHERA". Ranbir has also stated that he is looking forward to see Karan Malhotra take him out of his comfort zone in order to play his part in the film, and has confirmed that he is ready for any challenges that might come his way during the filming. Though nothing much is known about which period it is set in, judging by the line "Karam Se Dacait, Dharam Se Azaad" we have a feeling that the film is probably set in the times of early days of Indian freedom struggle. The movie is slated for June 29 release.
